Beauty Blessing

As stillness in stone to silence is wed
May your heart be somewhere a God might dwell.

As a river flows in ideal sequence
May your soul discover time in presence.

Signs of Spring 1

Such Singing in the Wild Branches (2003)
It was spring
and finally I heard him
among the first leaves—
then I saw him clutching the limb

in an island of shade
with his red-brown feathers
all trim and neat for the new year.
First, I stood still

and thought of nothing.
Then I began to listen.

Happy Pi Day

I am not a fan of math.  I still have nightmares about skipping out of my math classes.  But this is something I can appreciate... You can now listen to math's odd melody. If Pi were a song.

Monday Video Inspiration: Horse Feathers

This moody tune by Horse Feathers, called "Curs in the Weeds," will make you stop and think and wish and ache just a little bit.  My mom told me about this band about two years ago and just about every one of their songs have made me feel something when I have listened.  Like this morning... driving through the Amish farmlands, fresh snowfall on the lime-green fields, just reborn from two days of constant rain. Makes me think of what's down the road... flowers and sun and life.  Take a listen to this hauntingly sparse tune with heart-breaking fiddle and yearning vocals.  Enjoy this along with the rest of your melting almost-spring Monday.
